This was the first real opportunity for my client, an author who had been living in Budapest, to develop her own space. The 1960s house had been renovated by the previous owner in an American Classic style, with fireplace and cornices, and featured a natural palette. My client was prepared to take some risks with colour.
Elements of the project
• The client had very little furniture – we sourced virtually everything and then modified some pieces. For instance, we had the round dining table lacquered yellow, immediately adding an unexpected element to the space.
• The sitting room rug was custom made from three saffron-dyed rugs we bought in Fez – after shipping them back, we recut them and made them into an enormous single rug.
• We imported fabric from one of our suppliers in Sweden.
• We like to find unique pieces for our clients – a vintage porcelain tea set was found at a porcelain street fair in Germany.
